Our Management Team
Frank Shiner, Company Founder and Chief Marketing Officer
Frank Shiner founded Retriever Medical Dental Payments, Inc. when he realized that healthcare providers needed – and deserved – a better way to collect payments from their patients. Already an accomplished professional in the credit card processing industry, he saw a need that was not being met well by any company, and he set out to offer what became the revolutionary suite of tools and technologies that now define and differentiate Retriever.
Frank dug deep into the way physicians, dentists and other professionals collected for services and how existing practices enhanced or hindered the patient-caregiver relationship. He also investigated how payments were managed by office administrators and saw significant opportunities to streamline the work to boost productivity and efficiency.
Over the last two decades, Frank has led the ever-growing Retriever team to develop and introduce new technology – including mobile payment solutions – and the company’s proprietary Payment Management Bridge® to further enhance the value healthcare providers receive from the company. Under his leadership, Retriever has invented new patent-pending technology, copyrighted business tools, and patient-friendly techniques that allow providers to accelerate the revenue cycle and build vibrant practices on the foundation of predictable, assured payment for services.
Frank is a role model for Retriever’s nationwide team of sales professionals. He is active in training and developing the Retriever sales force to ensure the quality of the brand and the reputation of the company with providers/clients. He is committed to inspiring an uncompromising commitment to the highest standards of integrity in all business practices by the entire company. He also uses his creativity and strategic innovation skills to spearhead Retriever’s marketing efforts.
Under Frank Shiner’s leadership, Retriever Medical Dental Payments has grown from a startup to a national organization of more than 100 people whose efforts make possible payment card processing of over $3 billion annually (and growing!)
Dominick Colabella, President and Chief Executive Officer
Dominick Colabella brings the experiences of starting as an entry-level Account Executive during the early days of Retriever Medical Dental Payments, Inc. to his senior executive role with the company. Combined with his passion for technology and finding new ways to overcome business challenges faced by Retriever’s clients, his energy has inspired the company to expand its suite of services to become a one-stop solution for everything its core clients need to efficiently process payments.
Dominick spent several years traveling across the United States to establish the company’s presence in new markets. At every step, he noted new opportunities for Retriever to grow. With the support of CEO Frank Shiner, he explored and implemented new products and services to enhance Retriever’s ability to help clients care for their patients. His contributions have been important in mobile payments, software technology, and network security.
Payment Management Bridge® technology came into being under Dominick’s leadership and development. Prior to this innovation, providers had to processes payments outside of their office administration environments, a step that added extra time and effort. By bridging card payments to all recognized administration systems in the industry, Dominick’s innovation reduced workload while improving efficiency and patient service for Retriever’s clients.
Dominick’s concern for client experience inspired him to add an in-house client care and marketing team. He wanted to be sure that Retriever clients would speak with US-based Retriever employees should they call with questions or concerns. His focus on this priority has made Retriever the industry leader in customer care.
Dominick has been recognized for his leadership in the industry and has served on a technology advisory board with Verifone, the leading payments terminal manufacturer, since 2013, and the advisory board of Vantiv since 2011. Dominick also serves on the board of directors of the Western Connecticut Health Network.
